Sujata Majumdar

Sujata Majumdar (1976, London) is a photographer and interdisciplinary artist based across Amsterdam and London. Her background in different disciplines and cultures drives her artistic endeavour and informs the hybridisation in her work at these intersections. Her photography shows her fascination for forms and patterns that transcend scale, especially at the shifting boundary of nature and man-made. Her photographic style has been deeply influenced by scientific two-dimensional representation in the form of physics diagrams and microscopy slides. Her lens-based imagery often forms the basis of deeper interdisciplinary exploration and artistic research. In 2018-19 she was Crossing Parallels (TU Delft & TodaysArt) artist in residence. She is Head of Conceptual Photography at the Institute of Unnecessary Research and is currently taking part in a two-year exhibition programme at Cyclic Matter, Portugal.
