Peckham born and bred artist İlayda has a background in Mathematics, a keen eye for intricate detail and a love for all things POC. Her passion for drawing and painting ranges from reworking classical and art nouveau pieces to portray Black women, to exploring the realms of Afro-Futurism. Representation matters. She enjoys building self-sustaining cities in her mind; each component serves a purpose and has a story. In her work you can see the influence of mythology from many cultures, including her own Turkish and Nigerian heritage. She designs tattoos, builds websites and knits her own clothes when there’s time.
