Jonathan Straight is a street, documentary and portrait photographer based in Leeds. Although taking photographs since childhood, he began his artistic practice some six years ago following a successful career as an environmental entrepreneur. He has held several exhibitions of his work in Leeds with many of his photographs currently on permanent display at Avenue HQ. In 2019 he was shortlisted for the Portrait of Britain competition. He has published two books of his photography to date: Blood, Sweat, Tears and Helicopters (2018) is a documentary study showing diversity in the Israeli ambulance service; Vegans in Iceland (2020) is a series of portraits and associated images of the Icelandic vegan community.
