Ann Orrett

Observe Ann’s World
It’s small, semi-rural, risk-averse and half full. Ann has a contradictory obsession with images, materials and words. A pick and mix of valued nuggets and throw away remarks.
A true product of art school flippancy and an unnerving ability to comprehend books without necessarily being able to read or understand every word. You would think that her ego took a lot of battering at school and you would be right, it was also the cause of huge anxiety when she taught Art for 30 years trying desperately to enthuse, protect and challenge. Were her talents valued? Generally, No. Were her efforts appreciated? Occasionally. Does she have a huge chip on her shoulder? – Yes, probably both shoulders, but it is made from egg dipped yellow silk and encrusted with gems and diamanté with embroidery from medieval tapestries.
Ann has artistically daubed in numerous materials, each has their own highlights and shadows, but no pigeonhole except in academia where photographic art is definitely persona non grata.
She waits, queues, observes, agonises and reacts. Currently with a phone and camera. The following images are the result of doing these things in Lockdown High Peak whilst out living.
