All of Kyla’s work speaks from her relationship and connection to the natural world. Her art involves a combination of working methods including using natural materials present within an environment or landscape to more traditional working methods in the studio. Canvases made in the land are worked by time and natural processes and speak of our ancestry. They become natural mandalas imbued with the energies of the earth. She has an on-going dialogue with nature that is full of reverence and humility. Her art is the language of this conversation. Sound weaves a thread through her work and resonance deeply influences her art both in the land, studio and exhibition setting.
